Ridesharing services offer safety at its highest standard. There are features like GPS tracking, necessary information of riders and drivers, VoIP call, emergency button to directly connect with National Emergency service, 24-hour in-app support of dedicated Incident Response Team (IRT), trusted contacts that helps riders and drivers to share their trip details to five of their trusted people while they are on the move, so that they feel safe and connected.
All the trips in ridesharing are being monitored but when the driver or the rider takes offline trips, that trip cannot be monitored and in case of any mishap or emergency, necessary steps cannot be taken.
In app-based trips, both the riders and drivers get the detailed information about each other like name, contact number, vehicle registration number etc. It creates a mutual sense of trust between riders and drivers. But none of these can be possible if we take offline trips. We put our lives in danger not knowing who the driver or the rider really is, just to save some money or to earn a little extra.
Additionally, both riders and drivers of ridesharing services are under insurance coverage from when she/he starts the trip till the end. If they take offline trips and there is an accident, they will not get any insurance.
It is high time that we understand that both riders and drivers risk their safety by taking offline trips. We should question ourselves – just a save a few bucks, is it really worth the risk?
