Remittance inflow hits $2.3bn in Oct

Bangladesh’s remittance inflow has continued to rise since the fall of the previous government, reaching $2.3 billion in October 2024, compared to $1.97 billion in remittances for October 2023. 

Year over year (YoY), remittances have increased by 16.75%.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson, Hosne Ara Shikha confirmed the numbers to the media.

Remittances were recorded at $2.4 billion in September. Meanwhile, the country's foreign exchange reserves amounted to $19.87 billion as of October 30, according to BPM6.

For the first 19 days of October this year, Bangladesh received over $1.5 billion in remittances. 

June witnessed a record-breaking $2.54 billion in incoming remittances, marking the highest monthly inflow in 47 months. This surge continued from April, with remittances consistently exceeding $2 billion each month till June, considering both the Eids respectively.
