Gas pressure to drop across Bangladesh from Wednesday

Summit LNG terminal to suspend operations for three days for emergency maintenance, reducing daily supply to the national grid by 320mmcfd

Update : 01 Nov 2026, 06:20 PM

Gas supply across Bangladesh is set to decline further from Wednesday as the Summit LNG terminal will suspend operations for three days for emergency maintenance, potentially causing low pressure in the national gas network.

The shutdown will reduce daily gas supply to the national grid from 920 million cubic feet to 600 million cubic feet, Petrobangla said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said regasification operations at the terminal, located in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, would remain suspended from 8am on Wednesday until 4pm on November 7.

During this period, daily supply to the national grid will fall by 320 million cubic feet to 600 million cubic feet, potentially resulting in low gas pressure for consumers across the country.

The latest disruption comes amid ongoing gas shortages affecting residential consumers, CNG stations and other sectors.

A similar maintenance shutdown was carried out in December last year, the statement added.
