Gas pressure had temporarily dropped due to a delay in unloading gas from an LNG carrier amid rough weather in the Bay of Bengal, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit said on Friday.
However, the unloading process resumed at 7:18am and gas supply would return to normal by noon, he said.
The state minister made the remarks in response to questions from journalists after a district hospital health management meeting at the Jessore Circuit House on Friday afternoon.
He also said Bangladesh would benefit if fuel prices in the international market stabilise.
Speaking about ongoing health sector initiatives in Jessore, Amit said residents would receive services from a full-fledged coronary care unit (CCU) within the stipulated timeframe.
“The government is working to ensure that critically ill heart patients no longer have to travel to other districts for treatment,” he said.
He said the meeting reviewed progress in implementing decisions taken at an earlier meeting to improve healthcare services at the 250-bed Jessore General Hospital.
“Most of the decisions have made good progress, while deadlines have been set for the remaining work. Within the next few months, we will ensure that people in remote areas have access to improved healthcare services,” he said.
