Gas pressure in parts of the capital improved on Thursday after several days of severe shortages, allowing many households to resume cooking.
Residents in several neighbourhoods reported higher gas pressure in the morning, easing the prolonged disruption that had affected domestic cooking.
Champa, a resident of Banasree, said she was able to complete the day’s cooking after gas pressure improved.
“The pressure was good this morning. I finished all the cooking in case the gas supply drops again,” she said.
Similar reports came from Badda, where resident Aklima Hossain said the improved pressure had brought some relief.
“We had good pressure in the morning and were able to cook. If this continues, we’ll finally get some relief,” she said, adding that her family had been facing a severe gas crisis for more than a month.
Kaniz Fatema from Rampura also said gas pressure returned in the morning but remained uncertain about how long the improvement would last.
“We managed to cook today. If the pressure stays like this, we won’t have any problems. But I’m worried about how long it will continue,” she said.
Rahima Khatun of Mirpur also confirmed that her family was able to cook after gas pressure improved.
The capital and other parts of the country have been experiencing a severe gas shortage in recent weeks, with low pipeline pressure making it difficult for households to cook and causing widespread public frustration.
