All ongoing activities under the Quick Enhancement of Electricity and Energy Supply (Special Provisions) Act will remain suspended, according to a press release by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
The release says various allegations of irregularities in the power and energy sector, particularly in the application of the act, have been reported in national newspapers, which have raised or could raise questions among the public.
In this situation, all negotiations, project selection, processing and procurement activities under this act will be suspended.
However, activities already undertaken under agreements signed under this act will continue.
The ministry also mentioned that the interim government’s advisory council will be informed, and further decisions will be made accordingly.
