LPG price goes up by Tk18 per 12kg cylinder

  • Price hiked for fourth time in a row
  • Effective from Thursday evening

The cost of a 12kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder has risen by Tk18 for consumers, now priced at Tk1,381, compared to the previous rate of Tk1,363. 

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) retail price has increased for the fourth time in a consecutive row in this year.  

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission announced the new price in a press conference on Thursday afternoon. 

The new price will be effective from evening.

Besides, at the consumer level, the price of autogas has been adjusted to Tk63.36 per kg including VAT. 

In the last month, the price of autogas was fixed at Tk62.54 per kg, including VAT at the consumer level. 

In October, the cost of a 12kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder was hiked by Tk79 for consumers while Tk107.01 per kg in September, Tk141 in August.

BERC sets the price of private companies' bottled LPG in line with Saudi Arabia's Aramco's contract prices of propane and butane, the main ingredients of LPG.

Bangladesh's annual LPG consumption is about 14.28 lakh metric tonnes, with households accounting for about 84 percent of the consumption. Around 99% of the market is dominated by 29 private companies.
