The price of autogas has also increased from Tk84.62 to Tk91.95 per litre

Update : 02 Nov 2026, 07:55 PM

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices by Tk223 per 12kg cylinder, setting the new price at Tk2,060 amid an ongoing supply shortage.

The price was previously Tk1,837. The price of autogas has also increased from Tk84.62 to Tk91.95 per litre.

The revised prices will take effect at 8:00pm on Monday, BERC said.

Prices have been raised across all cylinder sizes, ranging from 5kg to 45kg.

BERC last raised the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder by Tk252 on October 4, from Tk1,585 to Tk1,837. The latest hike comes just a month later, amid ongoing supply shortages and complaints of higher market prices.

On October 29, BERC held a public hearing on LPG prices and proposed increases in storage, bottling and distribution charges. During the hearing, LPG operators, distributors and retailers placed separate proposals for raising their charges.

Operators proposed increasing bottling charges from Tk15–16 to Tk25–30 per kg. They also sought to raise distribution charges from Tk4.17 to Tk8.33 per kg and retail charges from Tk3.75 to Tk10 per kg.

Distributors proposed increasing their charge on each 12kg cylinder from Tk50 to Tk150, while retailers sought to raise theirs from Tk45 to Tk70.

After reviewing the proposals, BERC's technical evaluation committee recommended raising the price of a 12kg cylinder from Tk1,837 to Tk1,976, an increase of Tk139.

Following the hearing, the commission set November 2 as the deadline for submitting opinions on the proposals. It announced the revised prices on the final day for receiving feedback.
