The country’s students and youth made their final decision against the Awami League and its boat symbol on 'July 36,' says NCP leader Akhtar Hossain

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced that it will continue its protests across the country, demanding a ban on the Awami League as a political party and justice for mass killings during the July uprising.

NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain made this announcement at an emergency press conference on Friday night in Dhaka.

Akhtar said: “The fascism established in Bangladesh was brought down through the blood of students and the people seven months ago.”

He added: “We wanted to bring Sheikh Hasina back to the country and complete the judicial process against her. However, the Indian government did not extradite her and instead allowed her to speak virtually. On behalf of the NCP, we want to take a strong stance against the Awami League.”

Describing the Awami League as a fascist party rather than a democratic one, he said: “The country’s students and youth made their final decision against the Awami League and its 'boat' symbol on ‘July 36.’ We urge all students and youth across the country to continue the protest programs under NCP’s leadership.”
