Apurba Jahangir, the deputy press secretary to the chief adviser, said that the comments made by the Education Adviser regarding the national election were personal.
In light of the education adviser's recent statement on the elections, Apurba Jahangir said that the chief adviser will announce the elections.
He said this at a briefing on contemporary issues at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Sunday.
Apurba Jahangir said: "Education Adviser Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud has given a personal opinion on the election. He said that the election may be held next year. However, this is his personal opinion. There has been no announcement regarding the election from the Chief Adviser. An announcement regarding the election will be made by the Chief Adviser."
When asked about when the announcement may come, he said the Media will be the first to know when the announcement comes.
In addition, regarding the recent propaganda issues, he said that discussions have been held with the higher authorities of Meta to remove the propaganda being spread against Bangladesh from Meta.
Speaking at the briefing, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said the relations between Bangladesh and India will reach a better place soon.
So that the people of both countries benefit. But it must be based on fairness and equality.
It is expected that relations will improve following Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri's visit to Dhaka, he added.
He said that if someone is to be returned as per the extradition agreement with India, the trial process must be completed.
Once the trial process is completed, the government will talk to India to bring Sheikh Hasina back to the country.
He said that Meta will monitor Sheikh Hasina's hate speech. In addition, Meta will also take action against Awami League pages that are spreading false information.
He also said that Indian journalists have been invited repeatedly to see the real situation in Bangladesh at this time.
The previous government also took action against YouTubers and content creators. Due to this a trust issue has been created with Meta. However, if there is a violation of sovereignty, we will definitely bring it to their attention, he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir said that the Assam Agreement with India will be discussed.
He also said that the Chief Adviser may meet the Indian Foreign Secretary.
In addition, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said there is no shortage of soybean oil in the market and that the government is working to control the prices of products during Ramadan.
