Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that he will resign if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thinks it necessary.

In response to a question about the demands of the agitators for the resignation of several ministers, including himself, the home minister said: "If the situation arises and the Honourable Prime Minister thinks it necessary, we will comply. We are always committed to serving the country, and we will resign if that is the prime minister's decision."

Addressing protesters, the minister said that "I believe that they are now staging the wrong movement, since all their demands have been met, I think they should end their non-cooperation movement."

He urged the students to withdraw from the protests and go home.

Even after that if the students have any demand, they can talk to the prime minister as her door remains open for them, he said, adding that students should sit for discussion.

Asaduzzaman also said: “No one died in the police shooting during the protest movement.”

In response to the question of who shot the people dead, he said: “Many of the shootings that we have received today are not police rifle shots. The police don't use those.”

He urged the students to withdraw from the protests and go home.

So far, 134 HSC examinees have been given bail while other examinees will also get bail and they will be freed, he said, adding but those who are directly involved with killing won’t be freed.

Meanwhile, the ongoing curfew has been relaxed from 6am-9pm in Dhaka.

The minister confirmed the matter.
