Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that BNP leaders have shared divided opinions on India boycott policy.
He said a BNP leader says India has helped us in the independence of Bangladesh, another leader called for boycott of Indian products, Moin Khan said one thing, Rizvi said another, and Mirza Fakhrul from Singapore said another, there is no similarity between the words of the party leaders.
The road, transport and bridges minister said this at the Iftar distribution ceremony of the Dhaka District Awami League in Tejgaon on Saturday.
He said: “BNP is a party focused on power and development of their own pockets. Not a party of ordinary people while Awami League is people's party. BNP organizes Iftar parties, while Awami League distributes Iftar items among common people. This is the difference between Awami League and BNP.”
The Awami League general secretary said: "The order of party president Sheikh Hasina to distribute Iftar and Eid items instead of holding an Iftar party should be continued across the country including Dhaka city.
“The propaganda that I have heard since the Pakistan period... When there is no political issue, the only issue is opposing Awami League. Earlier it was against Bangabandhu now it is again against Sheikh Hasina,” he added.
Quader said: “People of Bangladesh elected Sheikh Hasina by voting. More than 41% of the votes were cast in the elections, which is not even in many developed countries. Still, they say India helped here.
“Friendly countries, including India, stood by to thwart the domestic and foreign conspiracies that were going on in the elections," he added.
Regarding the current market price, the minister said: "Recently, the prices of several products have started to decrease. Onion has come down to Tk30, 35 or 40. I think the price of goods will go down further. It will come to the tolerable level of common people.”
