Prime Minister’s Adviser and BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has said people will have to wait some time to see the benefits of promises made in the election manifesto.
He made the remarks at a memorial meeting at the National Press Club on Thursday, marking the 11th death anniversary of former prime minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed.
“In the name of democracy, autocratic rule continued in the country for a long time. At present, the government has to shoulder the major responsibility of rebuilding the country and meeting people’s expectations,” Nazrul said.
He said the government wants to work with everyone to rebuild the country, adding that all political alliances and parties must exercise patience to make that possible.
“People have to be given some time to see the benefits of the promises made to them before the election,” he said.
“Given the current situation, there is no alternative to political parties working with mutual trust and patience,” Nazrul added.
