Jatiya Party (JaPa) Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu has said that his party will participate in the election not to go back without taking part in upcoming polls.

“We are not in the election field to stage a drama. We are now dreaming of coming to power in the future,” he said.

“We believe that Awami League will be the opposition party in the election. So why leave the election?.”

Mujibul Haque Chunnu said this at the political office of JaPa Chairman GM Quader in Banani on Wednesday afternoon.

“Our only demand as a condition for elections is that the election environment should be such that the voters will have confidence. We have no other demands.”

He also commented that Raushan Ershad, the opposition leader of Jatiya Party, is not a member of the party. She is the chief patron of the party. She has no executive power. She does not hold any position in the party.”

Raushan Ershad met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the leader of the parliament. The Jatiya Party has nothing to do with it.. Not even a minimum relationship. There is also no disunity in the party.”

Regarding seat sharing or alliance with the ruling party, Chunnu said: “A discussion was held with the Awami League regarding the election environment. As an election strategy, any issue including parliamentary seats can be discussed as a political strategy.

“We have discussed a lot about how the elections will be conducted, how the voters will come, what will be the law and order situation, what will be the role of the administration, what will be the role of law enforcement agencies, what will be the role of the Election Commission, what will be the role of Awami League activists,” said the JaPa leader.

On Tuesday, after the meeting with the prime minister, JaPa leaders led by Raushan said that Raushan had requested Awami League President Sheikh Hasina not to go for any seat-sharing agreement or alliance with the JaPa faction led by GM Quader, claiming he forcibly took over the party.
