One more child has died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Friday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 987.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified the latest casualty as suspected.
With the latest figure, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 888, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 99, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
The single new suspected fatality was recorded in the Khulna division and Khulna district.
A total of 1,114 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Friday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 162,262.
During the same period, 40 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 19,567.
Since March 15, 2026, a total of 142,453 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 137,350 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
