BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain declared on Friday that the Awami League (AL) government is responsible for the “embarrassing” new US visa policy and that this government has lost all right to stay in power due to this policy debacle.
The Awami League government's false cases and human rights violations have drawn condemnation from the US, which is why they have imposed sanctions on Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and are considering more sanctions on others, Mosharraf Hossain said at a public meeting organized by Bogra BNP at the Central High School field to press their ten-point demand.
The BNP senior leader claimed that Bangladesh achieved independence thanks to the declaration made by Ziaur Rahman, who also hailed from Bogra.
Ziaur Rahman laid the foundations for independence through a popular uprising led by soldiers, while Tarique Rahman is now leading the recovery of the country's ravaged democracy from London, Mosharraf said.
The BNP leader criticized the government for holding a daylight election at night in 2018, claiming that a fair and impartial election is impossible under this government.
“If the Awami League returns to power, democracy and voting rights will never return,” he said, adding that demand is growing among the public to organize the parliamentary election under a caretaker government by ousting Sheikh Hasina's government.
Despite internal competition within the BNP, Dr Hossain urged everyone to prepare for a national struggle to reclaim independence and the right to vote amidst the country's turmoil.
