Awami League Acting General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has said the recent activities of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) prove that their split is imminent.
“The activities of BNP leaders prove that they have clearly separated. The party's split is now just a matter of time,” he said while addressing a rally—organized by Jatiya Sramik League—at the Awami League Bangabandhu Avenue office, reports BSS.
Speaking as the chief guest, on Wednesday, Hanif said four elected MPs of BNP joined the parliament but its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir—who was elected for the Bogra 6 seat—did not join the parliament.
"This reveals that it is certain BNP will break apart," he claimed, while speaking as a chief guest at the event celebrating the historic May Day.
Expressing his skepticism about Mirza Fakhrul's decision to not join the parliament, Hanif dubbed it a poorly-judged political tactic.
Senior Awami League leaders also spoke at the rally with Jatiya Sramik League President Shukkur Mahmud in the chair.
