The High Court will decide on Thursday on a writ petition seeking its directive on hospitalizing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for better treatment.
The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik Al Jalil fixed the date on Tuesday after hearing the petition, reports UNB.
Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali stood for Khaleda during the hearing, while Additional Attorney General Murad Reza represented the state.
Earlier on Sunday, the BNP chief's lawyer Barrister Nawshad Jamir filed the writ petition with the High Court, seeking its directive for the authorities concerned to extend Khaleda’s hospitalization for better treatment.
The writ further said Khaleda needed to be taken to a specialized hospital for better treatment as she is suffering from chronic diseases.
Khaleda was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment on October 6, in compliance to a court order.
She was discharged from the BSMMU on November 8, upon approval from the medical board formed for her treatment, and produced before a makeshift court at the old Dhaka Central Jail in Niko graft case.
On February 8, a special court sentenced Khaleda to five years' rigorous imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
