10-month-old dies in Chittagong landslide

A 10-month-old child was killed in a landslide in the Jangal Salimpur area of Sitakunda, Chittagong, on Wednesday morning

The deceased was identified as Md Ashraful Islam Tanvir, son of Mohin Uddin, a resident of Ward No 1 in Jangal Salimpur.

Several members of the child's family were also injured in the incident.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Industrial Area and Detective Branch) Russell of Chittagong District Police confirmed the incident.

He said: "Continuous rainfall triggered a landslide in Jangal Salimpur this morning, leaving a child buried under the debris. Police, with assistance from local residents, carried out the rescue operation."
