PM Tarique Rahman to visit Sylhet on May 2

Preparations are already underway across the city, with authorities undertaking road repairs and urban beautification initiatives to welcome the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to make his first official visit to Sylhet on May 2, following his assumption of office. During the visit, he will lay the foundation stones of two key development projects and inaugurate the “Notun Kuri Sports Competition 2026.”

Preparations are already underway across the city, with authorities undertaking road repairs and urban beautification initiatives to welcome the Prime Minister.

According to the official itinerary released by Protocol Officer-1 Md Ujjal Hossain, the Prime Minister will arrive at Osmani International Airport at 10:00 am. He is scheduled to visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal Shrine at 10:30 am.

At 11:00 am, he will inaugurate a Sylhet City Corporation project aimed at alleviating waterlogging in the Chandnighat area. Later, at 12:00 pm, he will launch the excavation of the Basia Canal in Kandigaon under Sylhet Sadar Upazila.

At 3:00 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the “Notun Kuri Sports-2026” competition at Sylhet District Stadium. He will then attend a party meeting at Sylhet District Shilpakala Academy at 5:00 pm.

He is expected to depart Sylhet for Dhaka by air at 7:00 pm, concluding his day-long visit.
