Prime Minister gives Tk 41.35 lakh to Sylhet city cleaners ahead of Eid

Ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has provided financial assistance to sanitation workers engaged in waste management under the Sylhet City Corporation.

A cheque for Tk 41.35 lakh was handed over at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 3:00pm on Sunday. Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, the administrator of Sylhet City Corporation, received the cheque from the Prime Minister.

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for supporting the cleaners’ Eid celebrations, Chowdhury said that Tarique Rahman is a compassionate leader who continues to work tirelessly for the welfare of people across the country. 

He noted that the Prime Minister deeply understands the joys and hardships of ordinary citizens and consistently stands beside them.

The city corporation administrator also said the Prime Minister is highly committed to the welfare and development of Sylhet residents. According to him, Rahman has repeatedly encouraged and extended necessary support to help transform Sylhet into a modern and developed city. He added that the Eid grant for sanitation workers is yet another example of the Prime Minister’s humanitarian approach.

Present during the cheque handover ceremony were Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, and Secretary of the Local Government Division Md. Shahidul Hasan.

On the occasion, the Sylhet City Corporation administrator also thanked the minister, state minister and secretary for their continued support toward the development of Sylhet.
