The Coast Guard has arrested a deer poacher with 106 kilograms of venison and 200 meters of deer-hunting traps during a special operation in the Nalian area of the Sundarbans.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed the information on Sunday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Nalian Coast Guard Outpost conducted the raid in an area adjacent to the Sundarbans under the Dakop police station in Khulna around 4am on Saturday. During the operation, the hunter was detained along with the recovered deer meat and hunting traps.
Legal proceedings regarding the seized items and the arrested individual are currently underway, the Coast Guard official added.
