During a visit to the Jaflong Ecological Critical Area (ECA) in Sylhet, Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan faced public outrage.

According to Manzur Ahmed, a journalist from Gowainghat, the two advisers visited Jaflong on Saturday morning.

While returning from the visit, the advisers encountered protests from locals in the Ballaghat area near the well-known Jaflong Mama’s Shop.

Locals blocked the road and chanted slogans such as “fake, fake.”

After a brief period of protest, law enforcement officers intervened, calmed the demonstrators, and cleared the way for the advisers’ convoy.

Inspector Sadat Hossain, in charge of the Jaflong Tourist Police, said the advisers emphasized the importance of environmentally responsible stone extraction during their visit.

However, on their return, the motorcade faced local resistance, which was quickly brought under control by the police.
