A digital billboard inside the overbridge of Ibn Sina Medical College Hospital in Sylhet suddenly displayed the slogan "Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu" early Thursday, sparking discussions on social media.
The text appeared on the digital billboard of the overbridge in Sobhanighat, Sylhet city, around 2am.
As the news spread on Facebook, it drew criticism from various quarters. Following the backlash, the hospital authorities shut down the billboard.
Witnesses, including local traders and pedestrians, reported seeing the slogans on the billboard for several minutes. Many in the excited crowd took photos and videos, which quickly circulated on social media.
Upon being informed, hospital authorities took immediate action and disconnected the billboard’s transmission.
Regarding the incident, Khondaker Iqbal, customer care manager of Ibn Sina Hospital, Sylhet, said: "I don’t know how this happened. The matter will be investigated."
