Two members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) have been detained during a military operation in the Keplongpara area of Ruma upazila, Bandarban.

The two are Van Mun Lam Bom, 42 and Philip Khiang, 36, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate press release issued on Monday.

According to the ISPR, acting on intelligence reports, a Bangladesh Army conducted a special operation against KNF members in the Keplongpara area.

The team surrounded a KNF hideout and successfully apprehended the two individuals as they attempted to flee the scene.

The detained KNF members are reported to have been actively involved in terrorist activities targeting local communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, as well as armed operations against law enforcement agencies.

For the past 18 months, the Bangladesh Army has been conducting operations in various areas of Ruma upazila to ensure the safety and security of local residents against the KNF.

The long-standing KNF conflict has led to the displacement of many individuals from the Bom community.

On Wednesday, with the assistance of the military, 26 members of 10 families from Baklai Bom Para in Ruma and Thanchi Upazila’s border area of Remakri Prangsa Union returned to their homes after a ten-month displacement.
