Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Sa Ching Prue on Friday expressed his determination to ensure balanced development of the CHT, create employment and build an unemployment-free Bandarban.
At the same time, he called upon leaders and activists of Jubo Dal to remain united to build a drug-free Bangladesh and a drug-free Bandarban hill district.
The minister said this while addressing a youth rally as the chief guest at the Press Club premises, held after a rally organised by the Bandarban District Jubo Dal to mark the 48th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, according to a PID release.
He said the harmful impact of drugs is increasing day by day everywhere in the country and drugs have now become a national problem. Although Cox's Bazar has been identified as the main route of drugs, its serious impact is being seen in the CHT, including Naikhongchhari, Alikadam and Thanchi, he said.
Outlining the future development plans for Bandarban, the minister said balanced development of the CHT must be ensured without being driven by emotion, by keeping the bonds of amity and harmony strong.
He said extensive employment opportunities will be created in Bandarban by taking everyone along, irrespective of party and opinion.
"By adopting specific and coordinated plans, we want to build a completely unemployment-free Bandarban," he said.
Bandarban District Jubo Dal President Zahir Uddin Masum presided over the rally, while the district Jubo Dal General Secretary Md Ariful Islam Chowdhury moderated it.
A large number of leaders and activists of the Bandarban unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its various associate organisations were present at the programme.
