A five-member election commission has been formed for the Jahangirnagar University Central Student Union (Jucsu) 2025, with Professor Dr Mohammad Moniruzzaman as the head.
On Wednesday, the university’s acting registrar ABM Azizur Rahman confirmed this.
Earlier, on Tuesday night, an office order signed by the Vice Chancellor and President of Jucsu, Professor Dr Kamrul Ahsan, announced this.
The office order says that, according to Section 8(6) of the constitution of the Jahangirnagar University Central Student Union (Jucsu), Professor Dr Mohammad Moniruzzaman, a professor of the English Department, has been appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner.
The office order further says that the election commission has been granted the authority to appoint any faculty member, officer, or staff to assist in election management, as needed.
In an immediate reaction, Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr Mohammad Moniruzzaman said: "I am hopeful that through a fair, smooth, and participatory Jucsu election, we can restore student representation. However, for this, we will need the full support of students and all stakeholders."
