A case has been filed against former MP of Comilla Sadar constituency, AKM Bahauddin Bahar, and his daughter, Tahsin Bahar Suchona, the former mayor of Comilla City Corporation, for allegedly ordering the firing on a student protest.
The case was filed on Monday night by Chhoton Mia, the son of Kashem Mia from the Dakshin Chartha area of the city.
The case names 225 individuals and an additional 150 unidentified persons as accused.
Most of the accused are leaders, activists, and supporters of the Awami League and its affiliate organizations.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Model police station, Md Firoz Hossain, confirmed the matter.
"Many of those accused in the case are no longer in the area since the fall of the government. Police are conducting operations to arrest them,” he said.
The case alleges that during the anti-discrimination student movement in Comilla, on the afternoon of July 19, the plaintiff, along with more than 50 students and locals, was marching from the Dakshin Chartha area towards Kandirpar in the city.
At that time, on the orders of the main accused, former MP Bahar, and his daughter Suchona, the other accused attacked and opened fire with various weapons.
Earlier on Sunday night, another case was filed at Sadar Dakshin model police station, naming former MP Bahar, his daughter Suchona, and 62 other leaders and activists for allegedly shooting and killing a man named Masum Mia. At least 400 unidentified people were also accused in that case.
