Three people were killed and another was injured by lightning strikes in Narail Sadar upazila on Sunday midnight.
The deceased were Ratan Roy of Jessore’s Manirampur upazila, Milton Roy of Khulna’s Nijgram and Nanda Dali of Satkhira’s Tala upazila.
The injured, Chitto Malo, is now undergoing treatment at Narail Sadar Hospital.
Quoting locals, Prodip Kumar Biswas, member of Kalora union parishad under Narail Sadar upazila, said the victims left their homes 25 days ago to graze pigs and arrived in Narail Sadar upazila three days ago after visiting different areas.
Lightning struck them around midnight amid rainfall, leaving three people dead on the spot, he said.
Locals spotted the bodies lying on the ground and another writhing in pain in the morning, the UP member said.
Narail Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Sajedur Rahman confirmed the matter saying the bodies were sent to the Narail Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The bodies will be handed over to the families after completing legal procedures, he added.
