Four people, including the children of a family, have suffered burn injuries in an explosion in Munshiganj.
The explosion took place in a five-storey residential building in Idrakpur area of the city around 6:30am on Saturday.
The injured were rescued from the explosion and taken to Munshiganj General Hospital.
The on-duty doctor sent them to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery in the capital.
The injured are - the tenant of the flat and program officer of the Department of Women Affairs Rizvi Ahmed Russell, 45, his wife Rozi Akhtar, 30, his two-and-a-half-year-old son Rayan and his mother Sahida Begum in her 60s. Among them, Sahida Begum's condition is critical.
Locals said that there was a loud explosion in the morning and then the flat was on fire. The fire service and neighbors rushed in and brought the fire under control.
Fire service station officer Abu Yusuf said that the expert team of the fire service is investigating whether the explosion was due to gas leakage or something else.
