President Mohammed Shahabuddin returned to Dhaka on Thursday wrapping up a four-day visit to his hometown, Pabna.
A VVIP Air Force helicopter carried the president back to Dhaka at about 12:30pm.
Parliament's Deputy Speaker Advocate Md Shamsul Haque Tuku, local lawmakers and distinguished people, including businessmen hailing from or living in northwestern Pabna saw him off at the Pabna Stadium helipad at about 11:40am.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin arrived in his home district of Pabna on Monday at about 12pm by helicopter and received the guard of honour at the Circuit House.
The president inaugurated the name plaque of Bangabandhu Chattar and laid a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Zilla Parishad at 1:30pm on the same day.
Dhaka TribuneThen at 2pm, he visited the grave of his parents in the Arifpur graveyard of Pabna Sadar, and offered a floral tribute, followed by prayers (Munajat).
He finished his first-day visit by visiting the family graveyard at Square Baganbari, laying a floral wreath and participating in prayers.
The president also paid a surprise visit to the traditional Lakshmi sweet shop, a nostalgic hangout place from his childhood, and spent quite a few moments there.
The head of state inaugurated the Square Science and Life plant in the Pabna BSCIC Industrial area at 10am on Tuesday.
At 12pm, he exchanged greetings with journalists at Pabna Press Club. Later, at 3pm, he attended a civic reception at Pabna Government Edward College ground where he spoke on contemporary issues and announced the launch of a direct train service between Pabna and Dhaka.
On Wednesday, President Shahabuddin visited the Pabna Diabetic Shamity at 12pm.
Dhaka TribuneThen he visited the Pabna District and Sessions Judge Court in the afternoon, inaugurated a museum, Bangabandhu corner and Bangabandhu mural and exchanged views with lawyers.
Later, he visited Bir Muktijoddha Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu Amusement Park.
During this time, he stayed at his house near the park for a while.
Later in the night, he enjoyed a cultural program at Banamali Shilpakala Academy.
This was Mohammed Shahabuddin's first visit to his hometown since taking office as the 22nd president of the country.
