More than 50 houses were gutted as a fire broke out at Chakmarkul Rohingya Camp No 21 in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.
The fire originated around 8.30pm on Monday.
APBN Police Superintendent (Media) Mohammad Jamal Pasha said: "On information, we reached the spot along with the fire service and managed to extinguish the fire. How the fire started will be investigated."
Mahmud Hossain Opu/Dhaka TribuneRohingya camp number 21 sub-maji Amir Hossain said: "The fire broke out from a room of the camp suddenly on Monday night. Later it spread to other rooms. More than 50 houses were gutted in the fire."
Later, the fire service brought the fire under control, he added.
Alam resident of the camp said: "The fire broke out from the cooking stove in the camp."
Acting Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (ACland) Md Erfalun Haque Chowdhury said that Initially, it is believed that the fire started from a cooking stove of a kitchen.
