At least 30 people were injured in a clash between BNP and Awami League activists that erupted during a sit-in program of BNP in Natore.

District BNP Convenor Shahidul Islam alleged that Awami League activists attacked them to obstruct their peaceful program.

BNP's pre-scheduled sit-in program started in front of the district party office at 2:30pm.

When its Organizing Secretary Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu, started to deliver his speech, some Awami League activists reached the spot with their peace rally and the clash broke out.

BNP's stage was allegedly vandalized during the clash and they threw brickbats at each other.

Later, police brought the situation under control.

Following the clash, Awami League held a peace rally in front of the district's Government Girls' School.

Natore unit Awami League General Secretary Shariful Islam Ramzan claimed that many of their leaders and workers were injured.

Inspector of Natore Sadar police station Abdul Kalam said AL and BNP activists attacked each other and police brought the situation under control.

As part of the ongoing simultaneous movement, the BNP, its associate bodies and like-minded parties observed a two-hour sit-in protest in all divisional cities and district towns on Saturday to press home their 10-point demand, including holding the next general election under a non-party caretaker government.
