Update : 08 Oct 2022, 09:49 PM

The authorities of Comilal University are going to reopen its dormitories for students on Sunday.

Amirul Haque Chowdhury, acting registrar of the university, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday.

He said: “As per the decision of the university administration meeting, the hall will be opened at 12pm on Sunday. Besides, as previously announced, the examination will be suspended from October 10 to October 17.”

The provost of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall said that students must have residency to board their rooms on Sunday.

Moqaddes-ul-Islam said: “It has been decided to open the hall. Only resident students are permitted to stay in halls for the time being.”

Zillur Rahman, provost of Nawab Faizunnecha Chaudhurani Hall, said that temporary identity cards would be given to those who do not have residency. After filling out the form for residency, they will be permitted to stay.

Meanwhile, general students are criticizing the opening of the dorms while suspending the examination on social media.

Dhaka Tribune could not contact Vice-Chancellor Prof AFM Abdul Moin despite several attempts.

On September 30, a tense situation arose between the two groups of the Chhatra League based on an announcement that the university unit of the committee had been dissolved.

On October 2, the administration decided to postpone examination and close dorms for students to avoid any untoward situation.
