A Mymensingh court has issued an arrest warrant against a police constable in a case filed under raping a woman.

Judge Rasijul Islam of District Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order on Sunday, reports Bangla Tribune.

Accused Saddam Hossain is a resident of Nazirpur village of Gouripur upazila. He is working in the Mymensingh police line.

According to the case, Saddam had been giving malicious proposals to a woman, also the plaintiff of the case, for a long time. He first raped her on May 21, 2021, and again on July 2 of that year by talking about marriage and threatening to kill her.

Since then, whenever the woman talked about marriage to him, he avoided it.

On October 22, 2021, after notifying the family and complaining to the police station, the victim filed a case against the police constable in the court without getting any remedy.

Confirming the matter, court police Inspector Prasun Kanti said that in view of the complaint of the plaintiff, the court ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) of Mymensingh district to investigate the case.

“An arrest warrant has been issued against the accused as the investigation found the allegations to be true,” he added.
