Train services between Dhaka and Mymensingh have been suspended after four coaches of a Jamalpur Commuter train derailed near Gafargaon Railway Station on Friday morning.
The 52 Down Jamalpur Commuter, travelling from Dewanganj, derailed shortly before entering Gafargaon station.
A relief train has been called to carry out the recovery operation, Anisur Rahman, director of public relations at Bangladesh Railway, said.
He said authorities were also taking steps to operate trains via an alternative route to maintain services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh corridor.
No casualties were reported in the derailment.
