They criticize Sust VC for the police attack on protesters

Update : 26 Jan 2022, 11:30 AM

The students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) have expressed their support for the ongoing agitation at Sust in Sylhet.

On Monday, they organized a two-hour token hunger strike in front of the Shaheed Minar from 1pm.

They demanded removal of the vice chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust), Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, for the police attack on students during a protest on January 16.

The hunger strike by Sust students demanding the VC’s resignation rolled into its sixth day on Monday with no sign of a resolution in sight.

Four more students joined the fast-unto-death strike on Sunday, taking their total number to 27.

Fifteen of the students participating in the hunger strike are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals while 13 are still continuing their strike on the campus.

Around 9:30pm, the students brought out a torch procession that paraded different roads of the campus.

Several hundred students took part in the protest procession demanding immediate removal of the VC.
