The agitating students held a protest march at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology protesting the attack of Chhatra League on protesting students at the university campus.

At the same time, the students protested against the prime minister's criticism of the students on the issue of the quota of freedom fighters in government jobs.

The students took out the protest procession from the university gol chattar around noon on Monday.

The procession ended at the main gate. The students held a sit-in program there.

The students said: “The prime minister cannot term the protesting students as Razakar. We strongly protest against it. She should withdraw this statement and apologize immediately.”

Asadullah Al Galib, coordinator of the "anti-discrimination student movement" at Sust, said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made extremely insulting remarks about the students participating in the ongoing quota movement. In this she called ordinary students as Razakars.

“We strongly condemn and protest it.”

He also said that many students were injured by the Chhatra League while protesting the prime minister's speech. “We would like to ask the administration to quickly identify the culprits and give exemplary punishment. If not, students will stage tougher movement.”

Meanwhile, at the end of the sit-in program, the agitators gave a memorandum to the proctor of the university.

In the memorandum, the students demanded an exemplary trial by identifying the culprits in the attack on ordinary students led by the leaders of Sust unit Chhatra League.

The students also complained that the administration has failed to provide security to the students. The agitators urged the administration to make proper preparations to ensure the full security of the students in exercising their democratic rights.

The protestors said that the students who were injured in the attack by the Chhatra League on Sunday night are Delwar Hossain, a postgraduate student of the English Department, Asadullah Galib, a postgraduate student of the Chemistry Department and Hafizul Islam, a third-year student of the Mathematics Department.

They have been admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
