Chittagong University (CU) has issued an emergency notice instructing all students residing in residential halls to vacate within three days.
The closure is part of an extensive renovation and development plan set to commence on Friday, June 23, and last for a period of 23 days, ending on July 15.
The notice, signed by CU Proctor Dr Nurul Azim Shikder, said the temporary closure is necessary to facilitate the renovation and development works within the halls. He urged all students to promptly leave their respective accommodations before Friday in order to ensure a smooth transition.
On September 20 last year, the administration of the university took the initiative to allocate seats in the halls. Students were required to submit applications to secure their places, prompting the administration's call for non-members to vacate the premises by March 15.
Despite the passing of the scheduled deadline, no further action has been taken by the administration until now.
