As many as 509 families have been marooned in the Debidwar Upazila of Comilla as the water levels at Gomati River continues to rise.
Among them, 300 families are in Raghurampur, 162 in Boro Alampur area in the municipality, and 47 in Ganganagar of Jaforganj union. The areas have been flooded.
Around four teams are working to rescue the waterlogged families.

“We are trying to remove everyone to a safe spot,” said former union chairman and resident of Raghuram area Shohrab Hossain.
Meanwhile, the UNO’s office said that they carried out renovation work at a dam in one of the areas around 1am.
Moreover, a Water Development Board team is inspecting if the dams have been damaged in any of the areas.
UNO Md Aheque-un-Nabi said that the residents of the upazila’s Laxmipur area have been relocated as the Chanpur end is currently risky.
The Shibnagar South Primary School in Boro Alampur, Bishnapur Government Primary School in Ganganagar, a madrasa complex in Raghurampur and Jaforganj Government Primary School have been prepared for shelter, he said.
