A 45-year-old man has been detained by law enforcers over allegations of the placing of a copy of the Holy Quran by him at a temple at Bauphal in Patuakhali.
Idrils Ali, hailing from Bakerganj of Barisal, currently lives in Patuakhali.
Al Mamun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bauphal police station, confirmed the matter to the online portal News Bangla on Thursday.
He said a case had been filed against Idris over the matter.
Idris Ali was detained by local people while he was placing a copy of the Quran at the temple in Boga union.
The OC further said that the police were yet to reveal why the man had gone to the temple in the early hours of Thursday.
A man named Sanjay Pal confronted Idris Ali outside the temple, reports News Bangla .
When asked, Idris said he had gone to the temple for prostration.
Sanjay said then Idris tried to run away and was later nabbed by local people.

Additional police personnel had been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident, the OC added.
