At least 15 people were injured in a clash between supporters of two rival candidates over campaigning for the municipal polls in Gopalgnaj.
The incident was reported from the Fakirkandi area of the Sadar upazila late on Saturday, said Officer-in-Charge Md Monirul Islam of Gopalganj Sadar police station.
Even though the election dates have not yet been announced, councilor candidate Joglul Kader Nayan and his supporters were campaigning for the polls at the Fakirkandi area.
“The rival candidate of that area Md Iqbal Sheikh and his supporters attacked Nayan and his supporters with locally-made weapons”, the OC added.

None of the parties filed a complaint in this connection.
