A member of the local union council has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Sariakandi upazila of Bogra.
The arrestee Amjad Hossain, 50, is a member of Kamalpur union council’s ward 5 in the upazila, confirmed Sohrab Hossain, company commander of RAB 12 Bogra Camp.
He said: “Amjad Hossain, a neighbour to the woman, used to make inappropriate advances towards her. On the night of August 4, he broke into the woman’s home and raped her.”

After the victim filed a case against Amjad with the Sariakandi police station, a team of RAB 12 detained Amjad from his home early Saturday, he added.
During primary interrogation, he confessed to his crime, he also added.
Amjad was later sent to the Bogra jail via a court order on Saturday afternoon.
