Jubo League snatches murder suspect from police outpost

A group of Jubo League men have attacked a police outpost in Mymensingh town and snatched a murder suspect, injuring three policemen. About 15-20 miscreants, led by local Jubo League leader Moniruzzaman Rony, attacked Outpost No 2 in the Town Hall locality around 11:30pm Thursday, said Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam. Three policemen, ASI Shibli and Constables Rajan and Afsaruddin were injured in the incident, he said. Police have detained two of the attackers, identified as Shanto and Sazzad Hossain. The snatched suspect Opu was arrested an hour before the attack from Kachijhuri College Road area. The attackers vandalised the police outpost and beat up the policemen who tried to stop them. The policemen are being treated at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Superintendent Syed Nurul said the criminals would be punished no matter what their political affiliations.
