Woman gang-raped by daughter's father-in-law, 13 others in Natore

Police until Friday arrested seven of the accused in the case

A 40-year-old woman was gang-raped allegedly by 14 men including her daughter’s father-in-law in Lalpur upazila of Natore.

Police arrested seven suspects including the key accused and father-in-law of the woman's daughter, Raihan Fakir, 38, in a case filed with Lalpur police station, confirmed Lalpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Selim Reza.

According to the case statement, Raihan lured the woman to Lalpur's Walia Tuesday night saying that he had found a suitable girl for her son to marry.

On their way as the daylight fell, Raihan took her to an isolated place and raped her and then assisted 13 other accomplices to rape her in turns after him, added the case statement.

Police are trying to arrest the rest of the accused in the case, said Lalpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Selim Reza.

The other arrestees are Rashedul Islam, 36, from Fulbari village, Akmal Sardar, 45, from Walia Centre Para village; Rabiul Islam Sarkar, 45, from Walia Aminpara village; Jillur Rahman, 42 and Torikul Islam, 35, both from Walia Pashchimpara village, Jibon Islam, 25, of Walia Bazarpara village, all from Lalpur upazila.
