Police on Friday arrested three men, including two aged over 60 years, in connection with the gang-rape of a woman in Fatullah of Narayanganj Sadar upazila.
The arrested were identified as local security guard Nurul Islam, 65, rickshaw-puller Raj Ballav, 62, and tea stall keeper Ainul Miya, 22, Fatullah Model police station OC Aslam Hossain confirmed.
On Friday, the woman registered a case against four people including the three arrestees after the incident took place in the Muslimnagar area of Fatullah in the early hours of the day.
According to police and the case statement, the woman's husband is an autorickshaw driver. Every night he parks his vehicle in a rented garage near Muslimnagar orphanage.
On Monday, the woman’s husband left the house with his son after she had an argument with him. As he did not return for two days, the woman went to the garage to look for her husband around 11:30pm on Thursday.
Upon failing to find her husband, the woman was returning home that night when she was gang-raped by Nurul, Raj, and Ainul.
Fatullah police OC Aslam said police are trying to arrest the other accused.
