Two men have been arrested in connection with the brutal torture and gang rape of an 18-year-old female college student in the Shimultoli area of Gazipur on Thursday.
The arrestees have been identified as Ananda, 22 and Masud Rana, 25, said Alamgir Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) on Friday.
However, the prime accused is still on the run.
OC Alamgir Bhuiyan said the incident happened on Thursday afternoon when the woman had gone to meet her friend Naim in Shimultoli. Naim and his two other friends Ananda and Rana took turns to rape her.
They had also tortured her brutally when she resisted the crime before dumping her at a local auto-rickshaw terminal. The woman was spotted by locals, who rushed her to a hospital, he said
"Efforts are on to nab the prime accused Naim.” the OC added.
