Shocking details have emerged in the autopsy report over the killing of five people, including a mother and her children, in Kapasia of Gazipur. Forensic doctors said the woman, her brother and two daughters were killed by having their throats slit, while the youngest child was suffocated to death.

Dr Mazharul Haque of the forensic department at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital disclosed the information at around 3:30pm on Monday.

Police recovered the bodies from a multi-storey house in Rautkona village of Kapasia on Saturday morning. The deceased were identified as Sharmin Khanam (30), daughter of Shahadat Hossain Molla of Paikkandi village in Gopalganj Sadar; her daughters Mim Khanam (15), Umme Habiba (8) and Faria (18 months); and her brother Rasul Molla (23).

Dr Mazharul Haque said Sharmin Khanam, her brother Rasul Molla, and the two children Mim and Habiba were killed with sharp weapons by slitting their throats. The youngest child, Faria, was killed by suffocation.

The victims were originally from Paikkandi village in Gopalganj Sadar and had been living as tenants at the house of expatriate Mozibur Rahman in Rautkona village. The accused, Forkan Molla, is the son of Atiar Rahman Molla of Gopinathpur village in Gopalganj Sadar. He worked as a private car driver and has been absconding since the incident.

Dr Mazharul Haque said, “The autopsy reports have confirmed how they were killed. Samples, including stomach contents and other materials, have been collected and sent to the CID laboratory to determine whether they had been given sedatives or any intoxicating substances before the murders.” The matter can be confirmed once the laboratory report is received.”

Additional Superintendent of Police (Kaliganj Circle) Md Asaduzzaman said, “On Saturday night, Sharmin Khanam’s father filed a murder case naming her husband Forkan Molla (40) as the prime accused, along with four unidentified individuals. Different units of law enforcement agencies, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), are working to arrest him. The real motive behind the killings will be uncovered once he is arrested.”
