An autorickshaw driver of Akhaura in Brahmanbaria returned Tk14 lakh to its owner, after she mistakenly left a bag carrying the cash in the driver's vehicle.
Monir Hossain, an autorickshaw driver of Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria handed over the cash to its owner Rahima Begum at the office of the upazila chairman on Sunday.
Rahima Begum is a resident of Chinair village in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila. On Thursday, she along with three others boarded Monir's autorickshaw in order to reach her home from Kautali bus-stand area. When she reached her home, she forgot to take out the bag carrying cash and other papers, Rahima said.
Rahima expressed gratitude to Monir Hossain, as she was able to get back the money.
Monir Hossain said: "I discovered the bag in my auto-rickshaw on Saturday when I was cleaning the vehicle. I am really happy to be able to return the money to its owner."
Akhaura Upazila Parishad Chairman Abul Kashem Bhuiyan said: "After Monir informed me of the matter, I have supported him so that the money could be returned to the owner. Such an act has only been possible because of Monir's integrity."
