Two suspects have confessed to their involvement in the murder of a Jubo League leader Nurul Islam Noyon in Khagrachhari's Dighinala, police claimed.
Noyon's death triggered a series of deadly arson attack earlier this month on the houses and shops of Adivasis in Rangamati's Langadu where he resided.
Khagrachhari district police chief Ali Ahmed said Junel Chakma,33, and Runel Chakma, 18, were detained from Sadar-Charmail and Dighinala areas on Friday afternoon.

During initial interrogation, the duo confessed to killing Noyon, claimed Khagrachhari Sadar police's Officer-in-Charge Tarek Mohammad Abdul Hannan.
A Navy team was scouring parts of the Mainee River on Saturday to recover Noyon’s motorcycle based on information given by the detainees.
Police recovered the body of for-hire motorcycle driver Noyon on June 1 from Dighinala. His death sparked deadly attacks by settler Bangalis on the Adivasis in Langadu.

The settlers, blaming the indigenous people for Noyon's death, set fire to houses and shops of the Adivasi people on June 2, killing a 75-year-old woman in the arson attack.
Pictures showing the plight of hundreds of Adivasis, fleeing their homes to save themselves, circulated on social media, triggering a massive outrage.
United Peoples' Democratic Front (UPDF), Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), and their associate bodies have staged demonstrations demanding justice. But, army, BGB and police personnel foiled their protest programmes on several occasions.
Human rights watchdog Amnesty International condemned the incident and called for Bangladesh to bring to justice those responsible for torching the homes of indigenous people.
On the other hand, International CHT Commission expressed regret and concerns over the attacks that ravaged around 212 houses of the indigenous peoples.
The district administration has so far distributed 40 tonnes of rice, 500 blankets, and Tk60,000 to the affected families in Langadu.
